About Chitkara University, Chandigarh:

Chitkara University started its journey as Chitkara Institute of Engineering and Technology (CIET) in 2002 under the management of the Chitkara Educational Trust. The Punjab State Legislature re-established the institute as a full-fledged university in 2010 under ‘The Chitkara University Act’. The university is located on the Chandigarh-Patiala National Highway, approximately 30 kilometres away from Chandigarh, making it equally distant from Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Ambala, and Patiala. 

Ever since its establishment, Chitkara University has strived to provide quality education and co-scholastic teachings that are in line with global standards, guided by the motto ‘Explore Your Potential’. The university aims to promote research, innovation and entrepreneurship by collaborating with top industries, laboratories and research institutes worldwide. The university enables academic excellence by offering a range of multidisciplinary programmes at the graduate, postgraduate, and doctorate levels of educationacross various fields of study, including business management, computer science, nursing, medical laboratory technology, electronics, engineering, architecture, and more. The curricula offered under these are both industry-relevant and research-oriented. 

Chitkara University and its constituent institutes have received numerous approvals and recognitions over the years. This includes being recognised by the  University Grants Commission (UGC), thus acquiring the right to award degrees as per the UGC Act of 1956. The university has been accredited with an A+ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

The programmes offered at Chitrakala University are recognised by the respective educational boards of India, such as the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Council of Architecture (COA), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Indian Nursing Council (INC), National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT), and Bar Council of India (BCI).
