The co-curricular activities at IIIT-Bangalore are organised with the assistance of the respective committees and clubs. These activities are classified based on the various aspects that are necessary for productive student engagement. The committees and clubs are overseen by the Student Affairs Council (SAC), a student body that is led by four undergraduate (I.M.Tech) and four postgraduate (M.Tech and others) students. The primary responsibility of this student body is to act as a bridge between students and the governing bodies of the university. Below is a detailed description of some of the extracurricular activities at IIIT, Bangalore.

International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore Sports:

Sports in IIIT-Bangalore are given great emphasis by the university’s official sports committee. The committee encourages students to participate in sports by organising regular events and tournaments for both outdoor and indoor games, including Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, Football, Tennis, Volleyball, Carrom, Chess, Pool, Table Tennis, and more. The Sports Committee also hosts two major sports events, known as Spandan and Umang. Spandan is a three-day event where students, professors, staff, and alumni of the university unite to show their sportsmanship. Umang is an inter-college tournament that is organised specifically for games such as Basketball, Throwball, Football, and Volleyball.

International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore Cultural Activities:

1. Infin8:

Infin8 is a 3-day inter-college cultural festival that is organised annually by IIIT, Bangalore. The festival features a variety of activities, including simulation games, cultural performances, fun-filled games, and much more.

2. Yamini:

Yamini is the flagship event of the SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) at IIITB. Every year, the event is conducted on October 31 to raise awareness about Indian traditions and world heritage. Indian classical music, dance concerts, and workshops are held during the event to introduce the youth to the wealth of knowledge, wisdom, and beauty of Indian culture.

3. Confluence:

It is an annual small talk series that was started in January 2024. The event acts as a platform for visionaries, pioneers, and change-makers to be under one roof and be the catalyst to change by fostering inspiration, conversations and nurturing connections among participants.

4. Sangam:

The alumni meet, Sangam, is an annual event that is organised by the university’s Placement and Outreach team every February. The 1-day event features cultural activities such as DJ nights and stand-up comedy to keep the alumni entertained.

5. Synergy:

Synergy is a 3-day annual tech fest featuring hackathons, coding contests, and entrepreneurship challenges. During this event, students are encouraged to participate in engaging activities, such as interacting with tech experts through talks and workshops.

The Robotics Club:

The club members engage in a wide range of robotics-related projects.

The club also promotes robotics-related activities by organising a large number of workshops. 

Aikyam:

Aikyam, a social wing of IIIT-Bangalore was initiated in 2008 by its students and is dedicated to humanitarian work through various initiatives. The club aims to create a lasting impact on the lives of individuals who are marginalised by social or economic conditions.

Aksh (Literature Club):

The Literature Club of IIIT-Bangalore also known as AKSH,encourages students to get involved in various literary activities, including poetry, writing, and reading, to help them express their thoughts and emotions through words.

Art Club:

To help build a culture of artistry and inspire students to explore their creativity, a group of students started the Art Club in October 2020. The goal of the club is to conduct art competitions on different themes and organise workshops to explore different mediums and art styles of renowned artists. The club also conducts art sessions where anyone who is a part of IIIT-Bangalore can join, thus showcasing their skills while having fun. 

Lean-In Club:

The Lean-In Club at IIIT-Bangalore is a women's club that was started in 2018 with the aim of bridging the gender gap existing in the STEM industry. The club’s goal is to create a supportive group to help and guide women who aspire to build rewarding careers in the domain of technology. The club also organises sessions and workshops to educate students about open-source programs and competitive programming, while also offering research opportunities to excel in other domains of IT.

CAMP:

CAMP stands for Club for Algorithms, Math, and Programming. The aim of the club is to strengthen the competitive programming culture at IIIT-Bangalore. The club promotes discussions, conducts workshops, and organises contests as a means to prepare students for various programming competitions, including ICPC, Google Codejam and Facebook Hackercup.

Zense Club:

The club acts as a medium for students interested in excelling in the domain of software development by equipping them with the relevant skills and knowledge that can be attained beyond the classroom. Additionally, it promotes open source and software development culture and aims to create awareness about the latest technologies through inter and intra-college events, such as national and regional hackathons. 

Chhayachitra:

The official photography club of the university has been capturing campus memories since 2015. It provides students with the opportunity to develop skills in areas including photography, videography, video editing, and more. The club has participated in many competitive events within the campus, such as ‘IIIT-B Through My Lens’, and ‘CreativeIIITBians’.

Symphony:

Symphony is the music club of IIIT-B. The music club has been part of the institute since its establishment. Members of this club are provided with opportunities to perform at various events such as Foundation Day, Convocation, and many more. Moreover, the club members also participate in various inter-college cultural events to demonstrate their talent. 

8Bit:

It is a club solely run by students. The members of the 8bit club are responsible for editing the entire magazine, including tasks such as deciding the type of content and structure needed. The club also focuses on creating a lasting union among its members through engaging discussions and late-night editing and designing marathons.

Parvaaz:

The theatre club of the university is known as Parvaaz. It provides artists with numerous opportunities to showcase their talents through activities like MIME, theatre, and street play. The club aims to act as a platform to raise awareness on societal issues, such as food wastage (in collaboration with the Food committee) and sexual harassment (in collaboration with the Internal Complains committee). Additionally, the theatre bugs of the university prepare and perform on various occasions, such as Teacher’s Day and Women’s Day. Moreover, they collaborate with other clubs, like the Chhayachitra club to create promotional videos for major events of IIIT, Bangalore.

GDSC:

It stands for Google Developer Student Clubs. These are community groups that are formed in the university for students interested in Google developer technologies. By joining GDSC, students gain knowledge in a peer-to-peer learning environment and find solutions for local businesses. 

MOSFIT Club:

This club is established to bridge the gap between academics and the evolving demands of the VLSI industry. The key objective of the club includes exploring advanced VLSI topics, discussion on projects and the respective ideation, overcoming VLSI design challenges, and participating in guest speaker sessions and hackathons.

Debate Club: 

The debate club aims to build a debating culture in the institute. The club members get the opportunity to express their views and opinions on international affairs. By doing so, the club plays a primary role in instilling social awareness among the students. 

Screening Club:

The main purpose behind the establishment of the Screening Club is to develop acute movie-watching skills. The club is responsible for screening films in various languages every week, along with the screening of popular sports events. By doing so, it enables students to enhance their film analysis and interpretation skills.

Impulse:

It is the official dance club of the International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore, Karnataka. The club gives students a chance to relax and showcase their moves in various ways, such as flash mobs, dance battles, Rhythm Rumble, and also in events like Foundation Day.
