NEET-UG (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test – Undergraduate) is a national-level entrance examination conducted for admission to undergraduate medical courses in India. The exam is organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA) as per the provisions of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, 2019. NEET-UG serves as the single entrance examination for admission to undergraduate medical programs, including: MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) AYUSH courses such as BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BSMS, and BNYS BVSc & AH (Veterinary courses) in certain participating institutions Admissions are offered in government, private, deemed universities, and central institutions across India based on the candidate’s NEET-UG score and rank. The NEET-UG exam is conducted in Pen and Paper Based Test (PBT) mode using OMR sheets. The duration of the exam is 3 hours and 20 minutes. Candidates belonging to the PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) category are provided with additional compensatory time as per NTA guidelines. NEET-UG scores are used for admissions under the following seat categories: 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats 85% State Quota seats Central Universities and National Institutes Deemed Universities Private medical colleges Management and NRI quota seats The examination is conducted in 13 languages, including: English, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Malayalam, Punjabi, Urdu, Bengali, and Assamese. The NEET-UG score is valid only for the academic session in which the exam is taken.
