What is NEET-MDS?
The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Master of Dental Surgery (NEET-MDS) is the national-level entrance examination for admission to postgraduate dental (MDS) programs in India. The exam is conducted annually by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS).
NEET-MDS is the single gateway for admission to MDS courses across the country, as mandated under the Dentists Act, 1948. Candidates who wish to pursue postgraduate dental education in India must qualify for this examination.
The NEET-MDS score is used for admission to:
50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats State quota seats across various States and Union Territories MDS programs in private dental colleges, institutions, and deemed universities Dental colleges under Armed Forces Medical Services Screening and selection of dental surgeons (BDS & MDS) for the Short Service Commission in the Army Dental Corps The examination is conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode and consists of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The duration of the exam is 3 hours (180 minutes). The NEET-MDS score remains valid for one academic year for admission purposes.
