All About GATE Exam:
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of the primary national-level examinations conducted in India for admission to postgraduate courses across streams like Engineering, Technology, and Architecture. It is also conducted for admissions to postgraduate and doctorate courses in the commerce, design, arts, humanities and science streams offered by various IITs, IIMs and CFTIs. Moreover, the GATE scores are also considered by Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) such as ONGC, NTPC, IOCL, and BHEL as part of the hiring process. It is jointly organised by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on a rotational basis.
The GATE exam is open to students who have completed or are in the final year of their bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, architecture, or a relevant science stream. It helps institutions to assess candidates’ expertise in core subjects studied during their undergraduate degree, along with analytical and problem-solving skills. Moreover, qualifying GATE can also open opportunities for higher studies abroad, financial assistance, and research fellowships, thereby enhancing academic and professional prospects for engineering and science graduates.
