Medical Courses: Eligibility, Syllabus, Colleges, Admission

Medical Course Details:

Allopathic medicine, commonly known as Western medicine, is the procedure of using various pharmaceutical salts, radiation or surgery to treat disease. It relies on clinical examinations and screening to confirm a diagnosis. This practice was introduced in India by Western physicians and surgeons in the late 18th century.

Allopathy medicine in India flourished post-independence with the introduction of the Five Year Plans which aided in the development of various healthcare schemes to improve the Indian healthcare system. This growth in the medical field also influenced the Indian medical education system. As a result, it underwent many changes. One such change was the significant increase in the number of medical institutions offering undergraduate, postgraduate, super-speciality, and doctoral programmes. Below is the table where medical aspirants can learn about the current state of modern medicine.

Admission Process for Medical Courses:

The admission process to pursue medical courses in India involves two stages: Clearing an entrance exam followed by the counselling process. Based on the preferred level of education, medical aspirants must clear the respective national-level entrance exams. After this, qualified candidates must participate in the national-level or state-specific medical counselling process that is conducted either by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) or the respective state counselling regulatory body. The MCC counselling process offers eligible students opportunities to secure all India govt medical seats through the All India Quota (AIQ). Whereas, the state-wise counselling processes are conducted to aid qualified students in obtaining medical seats in colleges within the respective state.

Students willing to apply for medical courses at their desired medical institute can get expert admission guidance through medical edu studio, a constituent part of Learntech Edu Solutions. Some of the services provided by Learntech’s academic experts include extensive guidance on the counselling process, college suggestions based on exam scores, reduced paperwork and much more.
