St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM), formerly known as St. Joseph’s College of Business Administration, is a constantly progressing centre of education and innovation in the field of Business and Management. The college was established in 1968 as a branch of St. Joseph’s College of Commerce (SJCC) under the management of the Bangalore Jesuit Educational Society (BJES). The growth of this management college as an extension of SJCC, along with other Jesuit-run Joseph’s institutions, paved the way for it to develop into a separate institute with an independent campus on M.G Road Bangalore, Karnataka.
SJIM, Bangalore, focuses on providing excellent education to students with the help of innovative teaching methods, industry-focused curriculum, and holistic development. National Collaborations:
St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM), Bangalore, conducts various extracurricular activities for students, ranging from sports and cultural events to club activities. Every year, St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM) organises the ‘Joseph’s Premier League (JPL)’, an intra-college sports tournament to encourage students to showcase their athletic abilities, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Some of the sports activities that are part of the JPL tournament include basketball, cricket, foosball, tug-of-war, kabaddi, table tennis, chess, carrom, badminton, Esports, and FIFA doubles. Verve is a two-day national level inter-collegiate cultural and business fest organised by St. Joseph’s Institute of Management, Bangalore. The fest comprises various activities for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, with participants coming from reputed institutions across the country. Events such as visual marketing, group dance, music bandana, and corporate walk are conducted mainly for undergraduate students, while activities related to Finance, HR, Operations, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship are conducted for postgraduate students. The Finance Club at SJIM aims to provide students with an in-depth knowledge of financial literacy, stock market simulation, and investment strategies. The club organises seminars on potential finance topics such as capital risk and regulation, bank management adequacy, Basel norms for mitigating credit and other risks, fintech, personal finance 101, interim budget discussion, macroeconomics, and their impact on stock markets. The Marketing Club at SJIM organises an annual conference that brings industry leaders and professionals together to discuss contemporary marketing trends. This student-driven club is committed to establishing a strong relationship between academic theories and real-world marketing practices by focusing on the collaborative aspects that exist between sales and marketing across various industries, including the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry. The HR Club at SJIM is a platform that encourages students to develop or expand their interest in Human Resources Management while focusing on critical thinking, empathy, and strategic planning skills to prepare them for careers in HR and related fields. The Operations Club at SJIM provides students with opportunities to gain extensive knowledge about logistics and operations within the banking sector, while also helping them understand the strategic role of supply chain management in cost control.
