Dr. Ambedkar Scholarship

The Department of Welfare of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Backward Classes (BC) under the state government of Punjab has introduced a number of programmes on the Dr. Ambedkar Scholarship Portal. The Dr. BR Ambedkar scholarship programmes are open to residents of Punjab who fall under the SC and OBC categories. Candidates who are chosen for the scholarship programme can earn up to INR 20,000. 


Eligibility Criteria:


  • Candidates must be residents of Punjab state.

  • Candidates must belong to Socially Backward Classes like Schedule Caste (SC) or Other Backward Class (OBC).

  • It is mandatory for the candidates to have scored a minimum of 50% or higher in order to be eligible for this scholarship.

  • The family Income of the candidates should be less than the specified amount by the Government Department.


Scholarships:


  • Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC Students

  • Post Matric Scholarship for SC Students

  • Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students

  • Post Matric Scholarship for OBC Students


1)Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC Students:


  • Class 9 and 10 students are eligible to apply. 

  • The annual income of the family should not be higher than INR 2,50,000. 

  • The candidate is ineligible to apply if they have previously received another centrally financed scholarship.


2) Post Matric Scholarship for SC Students:


  • The annual income of the family of SC students should not be more than INR 2,50,000.

  • Candidates pursuing postgraduate medical courses are also eligible, provided they do not practice medicine.

  • It is crucial for the candidates to have passed Class 10 and be enrolled in a post-matric or post-secondary course up to the post-doctoral level from a recognized institution.


3) Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBC Students:


  • The scholarship is open to students studying in grades 1 to 10. 

  • The family income should not be more than Rs. 50,000 every year.


4)Post Matric Scholarship for OBC Students:


  • The applicants must be Indian citizens and members of the OBC.

  • OBC students' family income should not be more than INR 1,00,000 per year.

  • The Dr. Ambedkar scholarship Punjab only accepts applications from two boys from the same family. The female applicants, however, are exempt from this rule.

  • The applicants must have completed Class 10 and be enrolled in a post-matriculation or post-secondary programme up to the post-doctoral level at a recognized institution.
