About CBSE:
CBSE stands for Central Board of Secondary Education. It is an autonomous Indian National Board of Education, established on July 2, 1929, by the Government of India. The primary aim of the board was to meet the educational needs of students whose parents had obtained transferable central government jobs. Currently, the board takes the responsibility of offering a holistic approach towards the development of education on a national and global scale through the process of affiliating schools and regulating classes X and XII examinations along with other exams that are handed over in time such as the Class X Optional Proficiency Test and the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). As of 2014, CBSE has become the world's largest exam-conducting organisation.
At present, the board regulates the fundamental functions of 29,340 schools in India and 257 schools in 25 foreign countries. Among them, There are 1,247 Kendriya Vidyalayas, 5,280 Government/ Aided Schools, 22,408 Independent Schools, 648 Jawahar Novodaya Vidyalayas and 14 Central Tibetan Schools.

Responsibilities of the Board:
The CBSE Board promotes a thorough and ongoing evaluation with a focus on student's overall performance. It focuses on providing a stress-free learning environment by emphasising on various aspects of education. I.e.
To formulate teaching-learning methodologies that focus on the overall growth of students.
To conduct a thorough analysis of the exam models and re-structure it, if necessary.
To inculcate job-oriented and job-related inputs that can better the learning skills of each student.
To provide in-service training programmes, workshops, etc to regularly upgrade the teaching skills of teachers and administrators.
The Datesheet for the 10th and 12th CBSE board exams will vary from one academic year to another respectively. As of 2024, the timetable for both the exams is as follows:

CBSE affiliated Schools Admission Process:
The CBSE school's admission process is subject to vary based on the school a student is enrolled to. However, the general admission process under the CBSE board is as follows:
Acquisition of Registration Form:
Depending on the school of interest, the CBSE registration form will be made available through an offline or online mode. In the case of online mode, students can obtain the form from the official website of the school. Whereas, certain schools will require students to collect the form by visiting the school campus.
Submission of the Form:
Students will have to fill out the form with the necessary information, upload/ attach a photocopy of the relevant documents and submit the registration form at the respective slots or departments of the school.
Note: certain schools will require students to pay an application fee.
Interview/ Entrance Exam:
After submitting the application form, shortlisted students will have to clear an interview or an entrance exam depending on the school and the grade they wish to be enrolled for.
Payment of Fee:
Each school will have their own mode of payment and the selected students must pay the respective tuition fee within the designated time frame to be able to avail a seat in that particular school.
Submission of Documents:
Selected students who have paid the fees must submit the original documents (as asked) within a time period to be considered as full-time students in the school of their preference.
CBSE Admission General Conditions
Students who choose to enrol into a CBSE school will be permitted to do so if they follow the criteria mentioned below:
Students must have been studying in a school that is affiliated with the CBSE Board or any other recognised by the Board of Secondary Education in India.
Students must have passed the qualifying exam or its equivalent to be admitted to the particular class.
They must fulfil the minimum and maximum age restriction set by the State or U.T. Government and relevant to the place where the school is situated.
CBSE Admission Specific Conditions:
Admission to class X
Since the secondary curriculum requires two years of integrated study, there can be no direct entry for class X admission. However, in certain cases, the admissions for class X will be open to those students who meet the following conditions.
Students must have completed a standard course of study in their class IX and cleared the class IX exam from a CBSE-affiliated institution.
Students who have completed their IX grade from an institute affiliated with a board of education other than the CBSE Board are admitted to a CBSE school only if
(a) Their Parent(s) are transferred from one place to another
(b) Their families are shifted from one place to another
Note: In such admissions, the school must obtain the student's mark sheet and transfer certificate, which are attested by the education authorities of the board. Additionally, the school must obtain post-facto approval from the board within 30 days of the admission of the student.
Admission to Class XII
There will be no direct admission to class XII. However, certain exemptions can be made provided the students meet the additional conditions. I.e:
Students must have completed a standard course of study in their class XI and cleared the class XI exam from a CBSE-affiliated institution.
Students who have completed their XI grade from an institute affiliated with a board of education other than the CBSE Board are admitted to a CBSE school only if
(a) Their Parent(s) are transferred from one place to another
(b) Their families are shifted from one place to another

Application Fee for Admissions to Class IX and XI:
CBSE Admission Conditions (For Schools)
A register must be maintained by the respective school that is approved by the State Government/ Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan/ Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti in which the name of each student enrolling to the school must be entered.
At the time of admission, students must be assigned sequential numbers. These numbers will be used as admission numbers for the entire tenure of the student’s journey in that school. When a student rejoins the school after a period of absence, their original admission number will be reactivated.
A student's name cannot be placed in the Admission Register until an authenticated copy of his or her previous school's Transfer certificate is submitted. This requirement applies to students who have attended any other schools.
A student is not allowed to be admitted into a class higher than the one that is mentioned in his/her transfer certificate.
Once a student’s name has been submitted to the examination board, they are not permitted to transfer to another school during the school session. However, exceptions can be made based on the severity of the circumstances.
A verified copy of the most recent transfer certificate will be given to those students who are leaving the school during the academic session or at the end of the session upon payment of all outstanding fees. In certain cases, a duplicate copy of the T.C. will be issued to the students by the head of the institution provided the original is lost and it will be marked.
If a student from a non-CBSE affiliated school seeks to be admitted to a CBSE-affiliated school, they must present the transfer certificate that is duly attested by the authority.
If the head of the school determines that the student’s parent(s)/ Guardians/ Both have willingly misrepresented facts about their career or the student’s career in a statement and if the student was a major at the time of admission to the school, they will be punished in accordance with the provision of the Education Act of the State/Union Territory or Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan/Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti rules, as applicable.

While the above are the mandatory documents that must be submitted during admissions, certain schools will require students to provide additional documents such as a Medical certificate to be eligible for admissions.
CBSE Board Curriculum:
The CBSE Board Curriculum consists of a vast collection of subjects that are taught to enable the physical, social and intellectual development of students while upholding constitutional values through value-based education. Moreover, the subjects are chosen on the basis of their importance in fostering multicultural and multilingual learning in an interdependent society. However, by keeping the comprehensive abilities of students in mind, the CBSE curriculum is categorised based on the level of education students are a part of.

CBSE Board Results:
The CBSE board results are calculated by inculcating certain methods that can provide accurate data with fewer complications. These methods fall under the CBSE marking scheme and the designated grading system.
CBSE Grading System:
The CBSE marking schemes will vary between external examinations and internal examinations. As per the rules of the board,
The evaluation of external exam( Theoretical/ Practical) papers shall be done in the form of numerical and the marks will be mentioned in the form of grades as well as numerical. Whereas, the evaluation of internal assessment subjects will be displayed in the form of grades only.
The external examinations are assessed on a 9-point scale and will be assigned with grades based on the scale. The internal assessments on the other hand are assessed on a 5-point scale (i.e. A, B, C, D, & E).
The passing percentage for the CBSE board exams (i.e. class 10th & 12th) is 33% of the total marks in each subject and aggregate. Moreover, for subjects in class 12th that consist of theory and practicals, students must obtain a minimum of 33% in theoretical exams and 33% in practical exams separately in addition to a minimum aggregate of 33% to be considered as qualified in the respective subject.
